Maren Hellstén, Marketing Planner, regularly takes advantage of the wide range of Eduhouse’s training services. Without it, she might not even be doing her current job. Eduhouse’s online training courses are available free of charge to all YTK Worklife members.

Maren Hellstén joined the YTK Unemployment Fund as a claims handler. Now, a few years later, she works as a marketing planner. Her training as a Tradenom has given her the support she needs for this job, but most of what she has learned has been on the job, attending various training courses.

The Eduhouse online training service, which is free to all members of the YTK Worklife, has been particularly popular.

“At our company, we are very positive about people who want to develop their own skills. I’ve been through a lot of different training courses along the way, from live training to short recordings. They have had a huge impact on what I do for a living,” says Hellstén, whose working days are now spent mainly on social media.

“Normally such courses are quite valuable, now freely available to me”

Of Eduhouse’s wide range of training courses, Hellstén has found Adobe’s training courses on different software particularly useful. She has learned the secrets of both Illustrator and Photoshop.

“Adobe’s live training programmes are really well designed and the teachers are very competent. The training sessions, which last a few hours, are full of practical exercises and you can always ask the teacher for clarifications,” says Hellstén.

Hellstén has attended a few live training courses several times, because each time offers new insights. In addition, the lessons can be repeated with the help of the numerous recordings available on Eduhouse.

“Such courses are usually quite valuable, so you would certainly not want to repeat them. Now they are all free and available for use, which opens up a lot of possibilities.”

“Even in a short period of time, you really get a lot of tangible benefits”

One of the advantages of a free-to-use training service is that you can try out training courses that seem interesting and drop out if you are not interested or do not feel the need.

“I’ve tried a bit of this and that from the selection. In addition to training that specifically supports my work, I have looked at training related to well-being and recovery, for example. Some I have completed, some I have left unfinished.”

Hellstén has also taken online and live training courses from other service providers. Compared to these, what has pleased her about Eduhouse’s trainings is that they “get straight to the point”.

“Eduhouse’s training is a tight package. They are not stretched out over hours, but in a short period of time you really get a lot of concrete benefits and learning.”

Why and how should you take advantage of Eduhouse training?

Minna Mäkelä, who is responsible for staff training at the YTK Unemployment Fund, reminds us that as the world and working life change, it pays to look after your skills regularly.

  1. Continuous learning is essential

“In many jobs, routine tasks become automated, but other tasks become more complex. This means that skills requirements are constantly rising. As jobs and environments change, you need to be prepared to constantly learn and relearn. With thousands of training courses on offer, Eduhouse has the right and up-to-date training for almost any situation.”
  2. Learning can be embedded into everyday life in small chunks

“It can often feel like there is no time for training or learning something new in the midst of a busy everyday life. Eduhouse’s training courses are broken down into small chunks that you can slip into your own daily life here and there. What if you listen to the training while commuting, doing your chores or walking to the shops? 15 minutes a day is almost a couple of hours a week.”
  3. Choose units that interest and benefit you

“Eduhouse’s online training service offers courses ranging from management training to well-being and from image processing to accounting. It’s worth considering which skills and knowledge are relevant to your career and development. Self-awareness, curiosity and a willingness to learn will help you maintain your skills.”
  4. Let Eduhouse help you find the right training courses

“Eduhousen offers both longer courses and shorter specific training. There are many pre-designed learning paths that help you to go deeper into specific topics.
