Reading develops skills that are useful throughout life. Good reading skills strengthen concentration, thinking, and interaction skills – the same skills needed in studies, job hunting, and working life. That is why YTK Worklife is also supporting the Lukuboost campaign, which encourages young people aged 13–25 in particular to read for 15 minutes a day.
“Reading is a prerequisite for things like getting a good employment contract or understanding a decision on income security, not to mention the fact that reading also brings a lot of joy,” says Ilona Kangas, YTK’s Director of Communications and Customer Relations.
“That is why we at YTK also want to remind people of the importance of reading. All reading is beneficial – whether it be novels, non-fiction books, poetry, blogs, or even comics.”
YTK Worklife is supporting the Lukuboost campaign, which challenges young people to read for 15 minutes a day. By reading and recording their reading time on the Lukuboost website, they can also win prizes.
As part of the campaign, joint reading sessions are also being organized across Finland. Young people are also offered plenty of inspiration and reading tips on various themes – from sports and fashion to society, human relationships, and sustainable development.
“Reading is an investment in the future. That is why YTK wants to support a campaign that strengthens young people’s skills and well-being and gives them the tools they need for a smooth everyday life and a sustainable working life,” says Kangas.
Encourage your friends and family to read and participate in the Lukuboost campaign!
