The October Member Pulse reveals a multifaceted picture of the everyday lives of YTK members. There is a sense of anticipation in the workplace, and the tightening economy and uncertainty in the labor market are evident in many people’s everyday lives.

Member Pulse is a regular survey that we conduct twice a year among our members. This time, we received nearly 18 000 responses. Thank you to everyone who responded! The large number of respondents makes our survey and the answers provided by our members even more interesting. Once again, the results have already been published and discussed in various media outlets. For example, Talouselämä wrote about the financial situation and the mood in the labor market. Markkinointiuutiset focused on the situation in the creative industries.

An atmosphere of anticipation in working life

Compared to last spring, a slightly larger proportion of respondents believe they will become unemployed or be laid off in the next six months. In addition, many are concerned about rising unemployment in their own field, which indicates that uncertainty remains in many industries.

Entrepreneurship alongside salaried work and combining multiple jobs are still rare, but growing phenomena. Economic pressures are being felt – but leisure time is also valued.

Based on the responses, finances are tight and many have had to cut back on their spending over the past year. At the same time, many also say they are saving regularly for a rainy day.

Although there are economic concerns, the value of free time is evident. When we asked respondents whether they would prefer a higher salary or more free time, the majority chose the latter. This may indicate a growing need for recovery and life balance.

AI has become part of everyday working life

One of the most interesting findings of the survey relates to the use of artificial intelligence. More than half of the respondents already use artificial intelligence in their work in one way or another. Artificial intelligence is commonly used for information retrieval, writing, or planning. Artificial intelligence is also being used more and more in job hunting, which suggests that digital tools are becoming an integral part of the culture of work and development.

Communication skills are valued

The importance of communication skills for success at work was rated at an average of 4.0 on a scale of 1 to 5. The majority feel that their own skills are sufficient, but many would like to receive more support and training to develop their skills. This indicates that interaction and presentation skills are seen as an important part of one’s own competence in working life.

Remote work has become established – rules are evolving

Remote work is here to stay, but its practices and rules have been refined in many workplaces. The possibility of remote work varies by industry, but on average, respondents can work remotely several days a week. Hybrid work, in which remote and on-site work are flexibly alternated, has clearly become more established than pure remote work.

YTK received good ratings

We asked respondents to evaluate different aspects of YTK’s activities. We received good and commendable ratings in all areas. The median rating for all ratings was 9.

We also received some wonderful compliments. According to one respondent, we make the sun rise!

Thank you to all respondents! We promise to continue developing our services!
