YTK is politically nonpartisan and independent. What does that mean in practice?

The YTK Unemployment Fund is an autonomous, independent, and politically neutral organization. We are not affiliated with any political party or political movement. We are guided by the best interests of our members and our vision of a seamless income security system that supports employment. We form our views based on our mission, our expertise, the information at our disposal, and the needs of our members.

However, political neutrality does not mean that YTK does not take a stand on social issues. Decisions regarding unemployment insurance and working life directly affect our members and our operations. Therefore, it is our responsibility to provide information, experience, and insights to support decision-making regarding how various solutions affect unemployment benefits and our members’ daily lives.

We may support a reform that we believe will improve the effectiveness of unemployment security. Similarly, we may highlight problems and propose changes if we see a need for them. Our views do not depend on which parties are in the government or the opposition.

We participate in public discourse, meet with politicians, government officials, and other societal actors, and provide them with information on unemployment benefits, working life, and the situations of our members. Advocacy is part of our mission; promoting party-political goals is not.

We conduct our advocacy work transparently. We report our advocacy activities subject to the law to the Transparency Register. We want it to be possible for outsiders to see what issues we are seeking to influence and on what grounds.

As elections approach, YTK may be positioned within the political spectrum in public discourse or linked to various political parties and social actors. However, our own principles do not change with elections, governments, or shifts in the political balance of power. Our mission is not to advance partisan political goals, but to improve unemployment security and working life from the perspective of our members.
